Who we are

Anna Rowena, editor in chief and art director

Anna Rowena is a multidisciplinary artist working across photography, painting, and drawing. Raised in California, she was surrounded by creative opportunities from an early age, but it was in her twenties that she committed to her artistic path—first by launching a photography business and later by earning her B.A. in Art from California State University, Northridge in 2020.

Her practice embraces both analog and digital approaches, including 35mm and medium format film photography, where experimentation across mediums informs her visual language. At the heart of her work is an exploration of self and identity, often in dialogue with nature. She is particularly interested in the ways our inner lives reflect the cycles and resilience of the natural world.

Through light, texture, and form, Anna creates work that invites reflection on our intrinsic connection to Mother Nature and the stories that shape our sense of belonging.

Emily Brady, managing editor and poetry editor

E.J. Brady is an author and writer from Central California, where she grew up amongst olive orchards and vineyards of raisin grapes.

She spent her twenties in Los Angeles County and now lives in Brooklyn with her husband and their child, a retired racing greyhound.

Emily’s writing is influenced by the bizarre and uncanny circumstances of the mundane, the surreal nature of being human, and the compelling situations that life—or its end—have to offer.

Her short story, Passenger, was a top ten honorable mention for the 2024 Northwind Writing Award and featured in the Northwind Treasury in December 2024.
